Trentside Baptist Church is a vibrant, multi-site church located in the beautiful Kawartha Lakes, with sites in the towns of Bobcaygeon and Fenelon Falls.

The Children’s Ministry Director is a committed Christian leader who oversees Trentside’s efforts to disciple children, families, and volunteers within our church and the broader community. The candidate must have a passion for ministering to those they are required to lead and serve, ideally with proven ministry experience. The role requires relational, communication, and administration proficiencies.

Position Title: Children’s Ministry Director

Reports To: Co-Lead Pastors with accountability to Elders

Time Allocation: Half-Time (25 hours)

Children’s Ministry: 80%

Staff & Additional Church Responsibilities: 20%

RESPONSIBILITIES

General:

  • Oversees the church’s efforts to minister to children nursery through grade 5.
  • Develop and implement a discipleship pathway for the children’s ministries.
  • Recruit, develop, and involve volunteers within children’s ministries.
  • Consistent communication and engagement with parents; informing them of ministry events and programming.
  • Train and administrate our child protection policies and procedures; including administering police and vulnerable sector checks.
  • Attend Sunday services and church wide events; intentionally using these times to connect with families, and the greater church family.
  • Work in partnership with Trentside staff, attending staff meetings, and staff related activities.
  • In consultation with church leadership develop an annual budget for the children’s ministries.

Children’s Ministry:

  • Select and review all curriculum used by the children’s ministries, ensuring they are consistent with Trentside’s Statement of Faith.
  • Ensure all required resources and supplies for each site are purchased, printed, and available as required.
  • Oversee the regular maintenance of equipment and supplies (i.e. registration forms, craft supplies,  classroom equipment, etc).
  • Regular presence at Sunday and mid-week programs; not required to be at all ministries but available when necessary.
  • Oversee scheduling of volunteers for children’s ministries at each site.
  • Regularly teaching of children during our Sunday and mid-week children’s ministries
  • Oversee summer camp ministry, and of summer student interns if hired (additional payable hours may be considered for summer ministry).

Ministry:

  • Kids are discipled.
  • Volunteers are equipped, valued, and invested in.
  • Maintaining an environment trusted by parents and members of the community by providing a safe and worthwhile ministry and events.
  • Effectively build valuable relationships with volunteers, and children.
  • A solid knowledge of Scripture and ability to communicate Biblical truths effectively to children

Personal:

  • Maintain a growing spiritual life characterized by personal Bible study, prayer, congregational worship, and Christian fellowship.
  • Possess a passionate heart for Christ, and for children.
  • Maintain and prioritize healthy personal, social, and family relationships.

REQUIREMENTS:

The Children’s Ministry Director will give evidence of:

  • A maturing Christian life, including evidence of godly character, spiritual disciplines, and a shepherd’s heart with a commitment to service.
  • Experience in the area of ministry to children.
  • The ability to work with and develop adults and student helpers as valuable ministry volunteers
  • Strong communication, and organization skills, with proven ability to define and share the vision for Children’s ministry.
  • The candidate must be a member of, or willing to become a member of, Trentside Baptist Church.
  • Demonstrates a grounded knowledge of Scripture and ability to communicate Biblical truths effectively to children
  • Is self-disciplined and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Preferably has an educational background in Theological studies or Child Development and Education
  • Support and submit to the By-laws, Statement Of Faith, and Christian Lifestyle Statement of Trentside Baptist Church.
