Do you love Christ, love children and youth and are looking to grow in your own ministry skills? 

Beginning Fall 2017, Bayers Road Baptist in Halifax, NS is planning to hire a part-time Sunday School and youth coordinator.  We are looking for someone who faithfully follows Jesus, desires to build relationships with youth and their parents, and is able to teach God's Word.  While this is a part-time youth ministry position, we are looking for someone who would see him or herself as part our broader church family at Bayers Road.

Job Description
 Title:  Sunday School & Youth Coordinator  
 Terms:  20 hours per week
 Reports to:  Christian Education Commission but works closely with the Lead Pastor
 Salary Range: $15-$17/hour  
!Purpose  of  the  Position:      To  develop  and  implement  a  comprehensive  Bible-based  ministry  for  children  and  youth.  Programs should be designed to encourage regular attendance of children and youth who already attend Sunday services and also be an outreach ministry where opportunities are presented to invite friends to the program.  
Major Responsibilities:
•  Select age appropriate curriculum for weekly Sunday school classes
•  Recruit, disciple and sustain a team of volunteers for all Christian Education guided activities
•  Ensure that all volunteers have been screened under our child protection policy
•  Prepare lessons, maintain supplies
•  Plan and execute programming for regularly scheduled junior and senior high youth groups
•  Engage parents and families as vital partners
•  Supervising summer student(s) if applicable
•  Daily Vacation Bible School planning and execution
Other Responsibilities:
•  Participate in Christian Education commission meetings as well as regular staff meetings
•  Organize special events and services involving children and youth (i.e. special Christmas/Easter services, Spring Forth, Tidal Impact, mission tour etc.)  
Necessary Competencies:
 As an excellent communicator, the incumbent is able to quickly build rapport with children, youth and adults of all ages and establish and maintain those relationships.  The incumbent understands and values the service of volunteers and also supports the vision of the Christian Education Commission.   The successful candidate can easily demonstrate effective organizational skills in planning and implementation of the above noted ministries.  Applicants should detail their experience and suitability for this role in their cover letter and resume.
