Position Description

Next Generation Director (NGD) Description We are seeking to hire a full time Next Generation Director for the period of June 2018-June 2019 to fulfill a maternity leave contract. This is a pastoral role. Overview Mount Hamilton Baptist Church is a flourishing faith community that has served on Hamilton mountain for 95 years. We are a diverse, inter-generational, beginner-friendly church with a large number of young families. Approximately 40 children attend our Sunday morning programming and we have a growing youth population. Our church vision is to be a church of Connected, Christian, Missional people, and we seek to see this lived out for all ages. Roles and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for children and youth ministries, with a balanced time given to both age groups. Specific tasks include: Children’s Ministry: During the school year, the NGD will oversee, support, and attend the Sunday School program (in consultation with the Sunday School team), run a midweek children’s discipleship program, and provide other opportunities for children to connect to each other and reach out to the community (such as PA day programs). In the summer of 2018, the NGD will oversee and run two one-week children’s camps. Youth Ministry: The NGD will prepare and oversee youth ministry which will include regular discipleship, connection and outreach opportunities for youth. The youth programming will be prepared in consultation with the Lead Pastor. The NGD will attend the CBOQ yearly youth retreats with youth. Families and Parents : The NGD will look for opportunities to support families in discipleship in consultation with the Lead Pastor. This may include providing resources to parents, supporting families in need, or parent information nights. Pastoral Care: The NGD will provide pastoral care to children and youth, especially connecting to new families at MHBC. This may include home visits, going out with youth for coffee, etc. Pastoral Support: The NGD will be a member of the pastoral team. He or she will attend weekly staff meetings and may have the opportunity to preach if desired. Accountability: The NGD will live by the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec’s Statement of Ethical Pastoral Conduct. He or she will fully support the values, vision, mission and policies of MHBC and the CBOQ. He or she will model a Christian life to the next generation. Hours : The NGD will work full time hours, that will include Sunday mornings, and at least two evenings a week. The NGD should schedule a Sabbath day during the week and take other times off to account for evening hours. Qualifications A passion and enthusiasm for the next generation. A dynamic and growing relationship with Christ. Experience working with the next generation. Strong organizational and programming skills.
