Position Description

Purpose

Brampton Christian Family Church (BCFC) seeks to fill a part­-time position, with future opportunity of full time employment, responsible for overseeing all aspects of student ministries Grade 7-­12. The candidate will be primarily responsible for the high school program (Grades 7-­12) on Wednesdays and Sunday School at our 11am service for ages 11­-16. The position would begin as soon as possible.

Qualifications

The youth pastor must have a love for God, a love for teenagers, and a pastoral heart to see them grown in their relationship with Christ. In addition, the following are required

General Qualifications

●  In agreement with and hold to the Statement of Faith and doctrinal principles of BCFC

●  A love for people with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills

●  Commitment for a team approach to ministry including delegating responsibility to team

members

●  Bible School training

●  Strong teacher with a love for God’s word

●  Relational style of leadership and ministry

●  Self­starter and able to work without direct supervision

●  Previous experience as a Youth Pastor and/or Young Adults Pastor

●  Highly motivated

●  Well­organized

 

Specific Qualifications

The Youth Pastor must have the ability and willingness to:

●  Recruit, disciple, and sustain a team of volunteer leaders

●  Engage parents as vital partners

●  Teach and equip youth leaders in small and large settings

●  Communicate well with parents and come alongside families, especially in times of crisis

●  Communicate well with church leaders and members

●  Relate to the unique needs of teenagers in today’s culture

 

Responsibilities

Leading

●  Ensure that the youth ministry is functioning in an effective, focused manner

●  Recruit, train, and mobilize a ministry team of young adults for the youth ministry

●  Follow through with the volunteer screening process to ensure a competent and qualified

body of volunteer adults

○ Must be in line with Plan To Protect

●  Steward a youth ministry budget, resources and equipment to ensure the needs of the youths are met

●  Oversee fundraising efforts for the youth ministry trips

Building

●  Develop comprehensive, well­balanced biblical instruction and programming for growth opportunities

●  Provide periodic retreat opportunities

●  Ensure that competent young adult leadership is available, not only to supervise, but to

build relationship at all youth events

●  Demonstrate organizational skills in implementation of ministry

Equipping

●  Develop a program designed to equip teens and young adult volunteers to do the work of the ministry

●  Provide opportunities for student ministry teams to form

●  Provide opportunities for the training and discipling of youth leaders

 

Other Responsibilities

●  When available, participate in staff meetings to keep staff updated on the progress of the ministry

●  Keep Pastor and leader’s informed of emergent situations

●  Demonstrate capacity for special events / retreat planning

 

Miscellaneous

● General pastoral responsibilities shared by the team and other duties as required
