Reports To Store Manager

Job Summary

The Pickup & Delivery Coordinator will work to ensure that pick-ups from the community and deliveries to the customer are completed in a timely, organized and safe manner while being ambassadors to donors of BFM Hamilton Thrift Store. The pickup and delivery coordinator will be directly responsible to the Store Manager.

Job Responsibilities

  • Schedule pick-ups and deliveries for regular transport days. (Pick-ups and deliveries are in the lunchroom made up by Day Leads and Cashiers.)
  • As needed, call customers the day before to notify them of schedule and provide a morning or afternoon time, subject to their preference.
  • Complete a photocopied list of pick-ups and deliveries, numbered for reference.
  • Load the truck for deliveries, with the assistance of truck volunteers.
  • Complete the scheduled deliveries and pick-ups, with the assistance of another truck volunteer., Unload furniture that has been picked up into the receiving area for primary inspection.
  • Maintain the log book noting mileage travelled for the day, number of deliveries, number of pick-ups and the volunteers assisting on the truck.
  • As needed, removed discarded items to the City of Hamilton landfill site located on Upper Ottawa.
  • As needed, removed accumulated scrap metal and take to Posner Metals for salvage revenue.
  • Proactively inform the store manager any maintenance or work that needs to be done for the truck.
  • Help recruit additional volunteers to assist on truck duties
  • Maintain a schedule of truck volunteers
  • Keep delivery and pick up records for one month in the box on the table in lunch room.
  • Other duties as assigned by Store Manager.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry goods
  • Drivers license in good standing and abstract.

Other

  • Coordinator must provide a drivers abstract
  • This is a contract position
