Ministry Opportunity, January 2017
Senior Pastor (full-time, part-time, or internship term available)
Churchill Alliance Church is a congregation of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada. We have an immediate ministry opportunity for a pastor to lead our small group of about 15 regular attendees with ages ranging from early career to retirees.
Our vision is to be a church that professes the love and healing power of Jesus Christ so that lives are made complete and perfect in Christ.
Churchill, known affectionately as the polar bear capital of the world, is located on the shores of the Hudson Bay on the northern edge of Manitoba. We are a town of approximately 800 strong with a predominantly (60%) First Nations population. The area around Churchill has long been settled by various aboriginal groups. Europeans first arrived in the 17th century and used the Churchill river to establish a fur trading post. Our modern day industries revolve primarily around ecotourism. In addition to the polar bears, our town is popular for viewing beluga whales, northern lights, and bird watching.

Must be a follower of Jesus Christ, who is committed to being led by the Holy Spirit, and holds in high regard personal growth in their relationship with God for themselves and their family. An enthusiastic leader who functions as a team player and encourages, mentors, inspires, and fosters accountability. Someone who walks in humility; will remain accountable to the Board of Elders; and maintains alignment with the mission and vision of the church.
The candidate should be strong at discipleship to raise up new leaders and mobilize the potential of the people. Someone who is flexible and adaptable to the pace and workings of a small town. A creative individual who is personable with children. Possess the passion to work with diverse ethnic and multi-cultural groups. Be compassionate and empathetic to help those who struggle with brokenness, and nurture healing and wholeness in Christ.
Must be able to work in a remote location with minimal support and supervision; needs to be self-motivated and driven. Needs to be able to cope with northern living; greater distance from family support and surviving with less modern conveniences. The candidate should be adventurous, love the outdoors, be able to deal with the rigours of cold winters and short daylight hours, and embrace the abundance of tranquility. The candidate should be in relatively good health. We will consider applicants of all adult ages and ethnic backgrounds for full-time, part-time, or a term position.
