Position Summary
The Foothills Church Planting Pastor will give leadership to the development and launch of the Foothills Alliance Daughter Church. We anticipate commissioning a significant group of people to the new communities in North Calgary. We are planning on public worship services commencing in September 2018.

  • A high capacity to inspire others through biblical communication and sharing God’s mission
  • A demonstrated ability to identify leaders and empower them to join in the mission of God, in and through the church
  • An ability to relate well to different generations and cultures both within and outside of church context
  • A proven track record in leadership, ideally having provided senior leadership in a flourishing church

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with your leadership team to develop the missional DNA of the Church
  • Discern with your leadership team the needs of the local community and how the church will participate with God in that area
  • Discern with your leadership team the culture and priorities of the Church
  • Inspire and recruit a community to make up the beginning core of the Church
  • With your team determine location, facilities and other start up necessities

Beneficial Experiences:

  • Experience in a multi-staff setting
  • Participated in the leadership of a church building program
  • Assessed and endorsed as a church planter through a recognized process
  • Served as an apprentice in and/or experience as a church planter
  • Experience in cross-cultural settings
  • Ordained with the C&MA or a like-minded denomination
  • Master of Divinity an asset

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Biblical Studies, or equivalent
  • Five years’ experience in church ministry
  • Licensed or able to be licensed with the C&MA

Compensation Package:

Total compensation is negotiable based on experience and education, and will be in keeping with the Western Canadian District grid
