Position Description

Richmond Chinese Alliance Church (RCAC), with an average Sunday attendance of 850, has a vision to become a missional community of God, growing towards healthy relationships, and deepening our spiritual life in Christ through worship.  We seek to maintain a vision to be united as one church, four congregations (1 English, 2 Cantonese and 1 Mandarin-speaking) changed by Jesus and sent to impact our world with the Gospel.  We are a family united in desire and joy to glorify God.

The candidate will have a clear, Christ-centred understanding of the Gospel.  They will love youth & young adults and have a passion to see them grow in Christ.  They will have a proven ability to teach Scripture to youth & young adults, shaping minds, hearts and whole lives.  They will listen, communicate and partner with parents in the ongoing spiritual growth of the youth & young adults.

The candidate will understand the unique opportunities and challenges of serving in a multi-congregation, multi-lingual Chinese Canadian church.  The candidate will embrace the vision of a unified, collaborating, church desiring to serve our city and the world across lines marked by culture, language and ministry-style.

Currently we have about seventy English Youth & Young Adults engaged in ministry at RCAC.  This group includes youth from Grade 7 to 12 and young adults between the ages of about 17 to 21.

Overview of Role and Responsibilities: 

  1.        Preach and teach God’s Word in large and small group contexts.
  2.        Disciple youth & young adults of RCAC.
  3.        Provide pastoral care to the youth & young adults of RCAC.
  4.        Outreach and evangelize un-churched youth & young adults.
  5.        Envision and nurture in the youth & young adults a heart for missions.
  6.        Train, coordinate and support multiple teams of volunteer youth workers.
  7.        Partner with, and minister to, parents in the ongoing spiritual growth of youth & young adults.
  8.        Work as part of pastoral staff team.
