Our Opportunity

The Gideons International In Canada is seeking a part-time Development Grant & Proposal Specialist, with a passion to see God’s Word placed in the hands of people in Canada and all around the world.

The Development Grant & Proposal Specialist is responsible to provide expertise in researching and writing foundation proposals, grants and impactful project proposals for the Major Donor, Middle Donor, and Planned Giving team.

Established in 1911, this 106-year old ministry has rapidly transformed itself for growth and global impact.

TGIC continues to create innovative ways of reaching more people with the gospel, using tools like the NewLife app (newlife.bible), creating Scripture magazines like Hope, Light and Redemption, and launching a youth arm called SendMe (sendme.ca). In August 2015, TGIC launched their international brand, ShareWord Global. Position Purpose

You will be responsible for working with the Director of Donor Development and the Development team by supporting a high performance team that raises revenue in supporting TGIC growth. You will have ultimate accountability to deliver high quality proposals, grants, reports and minutes, which deliver the opportunity for new partnerships, heightened donor relationships, and new & increased revenue streams. You will do this through purposeful research, building deep staff and volunteer relationships for the gathering of field stories, and through staff and donor trip experiences where the impact of lives being changed has been witnessed.

You will also be responsible to provide training and service to the fundraising team – the Global Development Officers – on foundation proposals, grants, project proposals and summary reports.

Director of Donor Development

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required preparing, writing, submitting and coordinating grants proposals to foundation and corporate prospects.
  • Perform prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for foundation and corporate grants.
  • Contribute to a culture of being Donor Centric through written communications.
  • Duties also include the attendance of team meetings, one-on-one meetings with Director, results reporting and performance reviews.
  • Create weekly and monthly updates
  • Monitor and report on KPIs, goals and outcomes using comprehensive written qualitative and quantitative feedback
  • Tracking our fundraising commitments
  • Data management— data hygiene, analysis, inputting, and various other database related duties
  • Attend meetings and record minutes/action items arising.

Professional Skills & Experience:

  • You have a proven track record of 2 or more years of successful foundation grant and corporate proposal writing and experience in a donor centric environment
  • You are proficient with Microsoft office, Excel and various reporting tools and software
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge (Blackbaud) would be an asset
  • Experience and experties with Adobe Creative – InDesign, Photoshop, Graphic Design/Layout
  • Bilingual in French is an asset
