Position Description

Norval United Church in Georgetown Ontario ( is a dynamic, active congregation of people trying to live out their faith in God each and every day. Our mission is to be a caring, forgiving Christian community welcoming people of all ages to join us on Life’s journey in finding God, growing spiritually, sharing our faith, and reaching out to serve others. Our congregation is at an exciting stage of growth and expansion. At this time we are seeking to hire a PROGRAM LEADER, CHILD, YOUTH & FAMILIES, to provide full-time program leadership to our congregation.
SCOPE: The Program Leader will be of Christian faith, and will bring energy and strategic leadership to the development of long-term, sustainable programs that positively impact children, youth and families.

• Program development for children and youth including Sunday School, Board PA day programs, weekly youth groups and summer camps
• Program development for young adults
• Program development for families
• Recruit, train and support effective lay leaders from within the congregation
• Reaching out to provide pastoral care for children, youth and families that is creative and offers encouragement in times of change, challenge and crisis
• Congregational support and leadership, administrative duties, attendance at various team meetings
• Assisting in leadership of worship services as planned with the coordinating Minister

• This position is open to a baptized layperson with relevant education, training and experience in working with children, youth and/or families,
• Demonstrated experience in planning, development and implementation of child, youth and family programs
• Demonstrated ability to lead, teach, vision, be patient, clearly communicate
• Demonstrated ability to attract and inspire volunteer leaders, support people and build community
• Mature individual of strong Christian faith and strong work ethic
• Understanding that programming involves both daytime and evening participation
• Serves as an advocate for children and youth
• Able to work independently and manage time effectively
• Valid driver’s license
