Position Description

Role Summary
Junior Leaders are part of the ‘front line’ of camp — in charge of loving and caring for campers all day long. These individuals will be marked by a desire to give of themselves in selfless service. A Junior Leader needs to be energetic, able to receive constructive feedback, attentive to the needs of kids and a team-player. The person in this role will report to & be supported by the Kids Coordinator.

Competencies, Gifting and Qualifications
• Have a personal relationship with Jesus which is evident in a dedication to serve Him
• Experience working in camp environments, with a problem-solving and team-minded attitude
• Experience as a mentor, leader or camp counsellor to children/youth, ages 6-14
• A desire to help children and youth understand biblical truths and God’s love
• Agreement with and adherence to the Knox Church Lifestyle & Morality statement
• Current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening
• Junior Leaders should be at least 17 years old

Areas of Responsibility
Staff Prep/Training Days | 1 Saturday (0.25 week) + 1 Week
• Attend and be punctual for all Staff Training, Program Prep & Team-Building days (dates to be provided at Interview)

Kids Day Camp & Overnight | 7.25 weeks
• Act as primary caregiver for campers assigned to your Day Camp Squad or Overnight Cabin
• Be punctual, prepared, and purposeful in all the program aspects of the day which they are part of
• Be accountable to the team and to their commitments
• Be a resource for other leaders and be an effective team member
• Reach out for support from your teammates and be honest with your Coordinator about what you need
• Be a good representative of Knox Camps and, more importantly, Jesus Christ in what you say and do
• Overnight Camp dates to be confirmed, but generally the second last week of August

Commitment & Compensation
This role is an 8.5-week commitment.
Total Compensation: $4191 (approx $13.15/hr) + 4% vacation pay
