Position Description

This serves as a brief over-view of the position and responsibilities.

Mission: To help children in our community develop a friendship with Jesus, with the Bible, with the church, and with each other.

Time Commitment: A minimum of ten weeks and 400 hours are required, and must be completed by Sunday August 26th 2018. The exact time commitment will be decided on between the Recreation and Arts Director and their immediate supervisor.

Main Responsibilities: The summer recreation and arts director is responsible for planning and overseeing a week of "clubs camp." This two track program will feature a theatrical component where campers will work towards a final stage performance, and an intensive instructional sports component.  The director recruits and trains volunteers, to organise and execute the week of Club Camp, as well as the week of Vacation Bible School. In addition, the director is responsible for assisting in the development and leadership of a weekly Sunday school program throughout the summer for ages 3-12.

Clubs Camp:

  •  Coordinate daily schedule
  •  Oversee the ball hockey and theatre "clubs"
  •  Promote the camp through various means, such as: flyers, posters, e-mails, etc.
  •  Register participants for the program
  •  Recruit, equip, and oversee volunteers for all aspects of the program

Vacation Bible School:

  •  Coordination of  decorative theme
  •  Lead general sessions such as: crafts, drama, music, etc
  •  Promote the VBS programs through various means, such as: flyers, posters, e-mails, etc.
  •  Register participants for the program
  •  Recruit, equip, and oversee volunteers for all aspects of the program including: Daily Welcome, Registration, Games, Lessons, Sessions, etc

Sunday School:

  •  Develop and lead the weekly Sunday School program
  •  Recruit and organise Sunday School Volunteers

Communication:

  •  Work in partnership with all staff, and collaborate with immediate supervisor
  •  Attend bi-weekly staff meetings
  •  Log and report hours, and track and report the summer program budget
  •  Attend weekly Sunday services during employment
  •  Communicate with volunteers, and lead training sessions and meetings
  •  Connect and Communicate with parents/guardians
