Are you a licensed automotive mechanic with a vibrant Christian faith? Are you excited to see young people reach their full potential? The Shop, a program of Youth Unlimited (TYFC) is hiring a full time Shop Manager in our Newmarket Shop.

About The Shop

The Shop is a program of Youth Unlimited (TYFC) that functions as a trades training center, serving youth ages 15-25. The Shop seeks to be a safe and orderly sanctuary where youth with life and learning barriers can experience God. At The Shop, caring mentors build relationships with youth, encouraging them to see their intrinsic value, discover their gifts, develop marketable skills and be empowered to use them to serve others, while working on fiscally profitable projects in our fully equipped 2000 square foot shop.

For over 70 years, Youth Unlimited (Toronto YFC) has been passionate about seeing young people attain their full-life potential.

Our more than 65 programs and initiatives, 70 staff and 400 volunteers primarily serve community youth ages 10 to 25 in the Greater Toronto Area.

Today we are working in neighbourhoods all over the Greater Toronto Area with youth coming from diverse backgrounds and facing unique challenges. Description: Shop Manager

The Shop Manager will lead a dynamic team of youth workers, overseeing all activities within our multi-trades Shop. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, including some evening and weekend work

Specific Responsibilities of the Shop Manager will include:

  • Plan and oversee day-to-day activities in The Shop
  • Supervise and develop staff spiritually, personally, and vocationally
  • Oversee the appraisal and sales of vehicles
  • Develop and oversee a vibrant volunteer team
  • Train and mentor high risk youth in a variety of trades
  • Develop financially productive projects for youth and mentors

The Successful Candidate will possess:

  • An automotive technicians license (other formal trades training will also be considered)
  • 5+ years experience and/or education
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a staff team and meet deadlines, while walking with them in their spiritual journey
  • Excellent verbal/written skills for communicating with donors, staff, volunteers and program participants
  • A working knowledge of small or micro business ventures
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task
  • Proficiency in use of the Google Suite or Microsoft Office is an asset
  • The demonstrated ability to work within a set budget
  • Class G drivers’ license with clean record.
