          POSITION:             Education Director

  REPORTING TO:           Student Life Director

     SUPERVISING:           Students and Classroom Staff


Rock Solid Refuge is a 12-month, biblically-based residential program for 13-18 year old boys with life-controlling issues. This program encompasses spiritual, academic, and vocational training to equip students to return to society as responsible citizens. Rock Solid Refuge is on a farm setting, 34 km northeast of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, and is a Certified Independent School under Sask. Education.


  • The Education Director will represent Jesus Christ through servant leadership by implementing biblical precepts, scripture, and prayer in daily life and counsel. This requires the pursuit of God through interpersonal relationships, accountability, regular church attendance, and consistent personal devotions.
  • Oversee all aspects of the school


  • Personal relationship with Christ from an Evangelical point of view
  • References attesting to a lifestyle consistent with Christian faith
  • An understanding of integrating the Christian faith in relating to, and the education of the students
  • Must be eager to embrace the context of the ministry and core values of RSR
  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • A current Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate (or the ability to obtain one prior to employment)
  • Able to prioritize
  • Self-starter
  • Able to establish good relational rapport with students
  • Management skills
  • Strong work ethic
  • Knowledge and ability in teaching students with various challenges (i.e. ADHD, ODD, PTSD)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Rock Solid Refuge School, teaching from a Christian perspective and adhering to all the policies and procedures of Rock Solid Refuge
  • Ensure that all bureaucratic requirements from the Ministry of Education are completed (Annual Return, Student Data System, etc.)
  • Attain and develop the necessary resources to administer courses complying with Saskatchewan Curriculum
  • Communicate with the previous school and parents to assess a new student’s academic level
  • Develop an education plan that will move the student toward an eventual Grade 12 diploma
  • Oversee Education Assistants and Teachers and daily school operations
  • Teach a variety of middle and high school subjects throughout the day
  • Assist in oversight of policy and procedure and ensure compliance
  • Administer and oversee appropriate discipline to students, when required
  • Monitor student academic progress and communicate this to his parents
  • Be an active part of the leadership team, participating in meetings and providing input, feedback, and support to the team and the ministry
