Children’s Ministry Part- Time Summer Intern

Duration: 10 weeks  at 20 hrs/week; Sundays are mandatory

June 27 - September 4, 2018


Position Overview:
The Children’s Ministry Summer Junior Intern will report to the Children’s Ministry Director and is responsible for providing leadership and administration for the Sunday Morning program and VBS.

Major Responsibilities:
• Prepare and implement the Preschool summer programming for approximately 150 children
• Assist in the preparation and implementation of 2 weeks of summer VBS programing for 40-70 children
• Understand and adapt bible curriculum for appropriate ages
• Study and prepare each weekly lesson
• Gather necessary materials: handouts, props, supplies etc.
• Lead large group teaching and devotion time to children
• Pray for children
• Use various teaching methods and activities
• Promote spiritual growth and unity among children
• Recruit and assist with interview process for summer volunteers
• Work with the communications department to set up a recruitment plan
• Prepare scheduling for volunteers
• Train summer volunteers
• Plan Volunteer Appreciation
• Working with the nursery coordinator to cover summer vacancies

• Must have a deep growing personal faith in Jesus Christ and support the Statement of Faith of The Peoples Church
• A passion to help all children discover Jesus through worship and scripture and to see both parents and children grow in faith
• Strong communication, time management and organization skills
• Creative thinker, who is a team player with a positive attitude
• Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of information

Working Conditions:
• Vulnerability Sector Screening must be completed
• Interacts with others (children, parents, volunteers, staff) regularly
• Sundays are mandatory
