Department: Children’s Ministry
Reports to: Children’s Ministry Director
Status: Full-time contract, 16 weeks at 35 hrs/week (Sundays are mandatory)
Period: May 15 – September 4, 2018


Position Overview:
The Children’s Ministry Preschool Summer Intern will report to the Children’s Ministry Director and is responsible for providing leadership and administration for the Sunday Morning program. 

Major Responsibilities:
• Prepare and implement the Preschool Summer Programming for approx. 150 children. Understand and adapt bible curriculum for appropriate ages.
• Study and prepare each weekly lesson.
• Lead large group teaching and devotion time to children
• Use various teaching methods and activities
• Gather necessary materials: handouts, props, supplies etc.
• Promote spiritual growth and unity among children.
• Pray for children
• Recruit and assist with interview process for summer volunteers.
• Prepare scheduling for volunteers.
• Train summer volunteers
• Lead preschool teaching during VBS weeks
• Plan Volunteer Appreciation dinner.


• Post-Secondary is an asset.  Primary field of study: Bachelor of Education, Early Childhood Education, General Arts, Psychology, Biblical Studies or Theology
• Must have a deep growing personal faith in Jesus Christ and support the Statement of Faith of The Peoples Church
• A passion to help all children discover Jesus through worship and scripture and to see both parents and children grow in faith
• Strong communication, time management and organization skills
• Creative thinker, who is a team player with a positive attitude
• Ability to work independently with minimal daily supervision
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of information

Working Conditions:
• Vulnerability Sector Screening must be completed
• Interacts with others (children, parents, volunteers, staff) regularly
• Sundays are mandatory
