Position Description

Ministry Department: Children Ministry-STEM & Sports/Arts Camp

Position: Robotic/Sports/Dance/Arts/Instrumental Music Instructor and Children Camp Counsellor

Accountable To: Camp Director, Administrator, and Associate Pastor

Ministry Target: Children to early Teenagers (ages 4-14)

Minimum Maturity Level: Stable, mature, committed to Jesus Christ and committed to Triumph during the summer months  (July to August).

Experience: Least 3 months to one year of working with Children

Language required: Fluent in English and Mandarin or Cantonese

Education: Completed Grade 12 by end of June.

Age Requirement: 17 to 30 years old

Personality Traits: Cheerful, Compassionate, Consistent, Honest, Initiative, Flexible, and Dependable

Passion for: Influencing children and teenagers’ lives with God’s love and message

Working Period: 8 weeks

Remuneration: $15.50 per hour (30 hours per week)

General Qualifications

  • Required - Faithful, Teachable, and Available Heart
  • Experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field
  • Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities (ex. coding, garage band, website design) for 8 weeks
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision
  • Strong organizational
  • Experience, knowledge of, and interest in Sports, Dance, Digital Arts, Instrumental Music, and Robotics
  • Must exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills (with parents, staff, volunteers, and campers)
  • Must have the ability to lead campers through the camp activities
  • Communication skills (Fluent in English and Mandarin or Cantonese) Training
  • Required
    • Participating on hands on training meetings with children every Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Friday nights at 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. starting in middle of June
    • Attend Leaders in training meetings (Saturdays and Sundays-Starting in May-June)

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Make sure the safety of each campers by following Plan to Protect policy
  • Make sure every facilities, place or equipment used by the Summer Day Camp are clean up and tidy up at the end of day
  • Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Camp Leadership -Implement a weekly schedule of summer day camp
  • Implement workshops weekly
  • Identify and respond to camper behavior issues
  • Maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance
  • Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program and the church
  • Plan and lead 8 weeks schedule, physical education activities, games, crafts, outing events and curriculum with another leader.
  • Assist the purchases, distribution and use of all equipment and supplies (curriculum, snacks, art supplies, etc.) if needed by camp director
  • Provide spiritual guidance and counselling to STEM & Sports/Arts Campers
