Position Description

St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Fergus, Ontario is a congregation of 300 members and adherents. We are a vibrant, loving and Christ-centred multi-generational community. Our Sunday morning worship experience includes a contemporary worship service at 9 am and a traditional worship service at 11 am; an active Sunday School for children, two adult Bible study groups and a manned prayer chapel.

Our mission statement is to accept Christ's love, embrace His teaching and share Him with those near and far.

We are seeking to fill a permanent part-time Contemporary Music and Creative Arts Director position for our contemporary service.





The Contemporary Music and Creative Arts Director is a key strategic leader overseeing and growing the contemporary worship and creative arts ministry within our Contemporary Worship service. This pastoral musician plans the development of meaningful worship services, connects worshippers to the story and presence of God, and creates excitement for the Lord.


 In conjunction with the Senior Pastor, to lead and implement biblical, creative, vibrant and engaging worship services where people can meet Jesus. 


Working closely with the Sr Pastor in planning worship services including themes, and creative presentations

Developing a vision for the contemporary worship ministry in collaboration with the Sr Pastor and the Worship Committee

Selecting music and curating pertinent artistic elements for the 9 am service

Scheduling, leading, managing and practicing with singers and musicians; nurturing musical and vocal skills within the team

Occasionally partnering with the Traditional Music Director to plan worship services blending contemporary and traditional worship styles

Team mentoring and spiritual development through prayer and discipleship

Planning worship team meetings and break-away development days

Equipping, inspiring, coaching, shepherding worship ministry participants

Opportunity for contributing to the church's blog and social media. The church's use of these digital platforms is not aimed so much at advertising, as keeping our congregation in the loop, and celebrating God's work among us.



  • Contageous and enthusiastic faith in Jesus Christ   
  • Solid grasp of theology 
  • Skilled vocally and instrumentally (guitar, keyboard...)
  • Strong relational skills 
  • Substantially experienced at leading people to worship Jesus on the platform and off   
  • Skilled and experienced at leading praise bands and singers   
  • Strong verbal and written communication   
  • Proficient administrative and organizational skills   
  • Preferred post-secondary education in music, creative arts and/or theology



This permanent part-time contract is based on an average of 18 hours per week.  Annual salary is competitive and dependent on experience and qualifications.

Ranges from $19,656 to $22,464   No Benefits
