Lead Pastor

Lead Pastor

Company: Cross Connection Church Chilliwack
9310 Williams Street
Chilliwack, British Columbia

Position Description

Cross Connection Church - Chilliwack, B.C.; an EMCC Church is seeking applicants for LEAD PASTOR.  This is a full time position and the applicant will be expected to relocate to the area.

We are seeking a highly relational pastor who loves people and can provide strong leadership in helping the church develop and implement a new vision. We seek a leader with spiritual vitality and a faith that inspires others. Regardless of age, they need to be able to minister effectively to a wide demographic profile. We desire a pastor with a shepherd’s heart who cares for his sheep and encourages them. The pastor must be a competent biblical preacher and able to collaborate with the Board and the congregation in developing vision and direction. They must also be emotionally self-aware and demonstrate consistent integrity.

Cross Connection Church began in Chilliwack, BC among German speaking immigrants in 1941. After struggling through the transition to English in the 1950’s and 60’s, the church flourished. Music and youth ministries have been strong parts in the life of the church. Several conflicts in the last decade contributed to the church’s decline. The church hired a Transitional Pastor in 2016 to address unhealthy patterns. We are now in a better place.

Chilliwack has about 90,000 people. Over 50% identify with a Christian religious group and 96% speak English at home. There has not been a large immigration of Asian and South Asian people to the area. There is limited land for new housing, so future housing growth is expected to be through densification. Housing prices are elevated due to the influx of people from the Lower Mainland. The neighborhood around the church has deteriorated over the years. There are also over 20 churches within a mile of our church.

We have a Sunday Morning attendance of 65-80 people. The largest group are seniors. Nursery and Sunday School are offered for children on Sunday. Music and youth ministry are highly valued. The youth group is small, but committed. This is a highly relational church.

Applicants will be required to complete the preliminary accreditation process with the Regional Minister of the EMCC prior to candidating.
Educational requirements include theological training at a Bachelor degree level or higher from an accredited school, or acceptable equivalents.
