Position Description

North Bramalea United Church seeks 2 college or university students for the positions of Camp Co-Directors for the summer of 2018. The summer program consists of day camps for children entering SK to grade 5, and youth from grades 6 to 8, with singing, crafts, games, sports, bible lessons, water play and walking trips to nearby parks. Our Camp season is July 3rd to August 17th and hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.


 To oversee the development of summer programs and entire functioning of Mighty Day Camps.  To develop and oversee the Camp Counsellor and Volunteer training week in July 2018.  To supervise, support and coach all Camp Staff and volunteers.  Model servant leadership, and Christ’s love and welcome to all.

Responsibilities  Develop training for staff and volunteers  Organize and supervise program development and all other preparations for camp  Coach staff and volunteers  Assess camp, make recommendations, help implement change  Work with parents and families including making phone calls home when necessary  Run de-briefing sessions for staff 2x/day  Operate the sign-in desk daily (only requires one co-director)  Revise schedules & groups before print  Assign new responsibilities as they become apparent  Manage special guests/events  Take note of all incident reports filed, notifying parents of those children at the end of the day.

Qualifications  Former Camp Staff experience an asset  Enrollment in full-time college or university studies in Sept 2018  Previous leadership in Christian context an asset  Experience in collaborative team leadership and as a group facilitator  Experience and training in effective communication including giving and receiving feedback and conflict resolution.  Experience working with children with special needs.  Knowledge and experience responding to emergency situations as laid out in the Mighty Day Camps Camp Management Guide  Experience and training in responding to disclosures of abuse from children as laid out in the Mighty Day Camps Camp Management Guide.  Police Records Check Level 2 to be submitted before camp begins.

Reports directly and is accountable to the Children’s Ministry Lead at North Bramalea United Church
