Position Description

SCAC North Campus (Scarborough Chinese Alliance Church)  

Assistant Pastor (Part Time) for Children Ministry at North Campus

SCAC is a missional church established in 1981 with a congregation of 1500. SCAC planted our North campus in 2014 (245 Renfrew Drive, Markham) and grew from 50 to 140. We have 40 children every Sunday.

The Assistant Pastor will lead the development of Children Ministry at SCAC North Campus. This individual will also assist the Lead Pastor in growing our vibrant congregation.

Responsibilities:
 

Nurture children within our church through the implementation of creative programs and events.  The goal is to equip the children spiritually, emotionally, and relationally to other children and adults
Develop a long term vision of the young family and children ministry based on the strengths and needs of the members
Implement the long term vision of the ministry by using available resources within the SCAC environment.  This would include, but is not limited to:

Recruit, train, lead and support Children Ministry volunteers
Set up a structure that would allow the long term sustainability of the children ministry
Enable, equip, and encourage children and parents into leadership roles within the ministry

Teach and preach at children worship
Conduct outreach into the community
Communicate regularly with parents, children and other members of the church on the progress of the ministry
Equip parents to raise their children with the knowledge of God’s word, and become spiritual leaders in their everyday lives

 

Qualifications:

 

Has a solid theological foundation for teaching and working with curriculum, mentoring leaders and pastoring people, preferably for young families and children
Has the passion to develop children in the love and words of God
Has the ability to build effective teams, including equip and empower others to do so
Has a strong personal relationship with Jesus
Has demonstrated strong communications and organizational skills
