  • Help plan and implement the day camp program. This includes (but is not limited to) recreational games, crafts, Bible lessons, outings and other scheduled events 
  • Supervise, interact with and support all Day Camp campers 
  • Attend all staff training/orientation and meetings 
  • Uphold all health and safety regulations
  • Work cooperatively with the Day Camp Coordinator, church staff and volunteers in all aspects of the program


  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusively) at the time of intake/selection
  • A high school or university/college student who was in school full time during the 2016-2017  school year and is returning to school full time in 2017-2018 
  • Able to work within a Christian atmosphere and to promote the goals of the program and the mission of the Salvation Army
  • Organized, hardworking, dedicated and creative, and possess leadership qualities
  • Experienced in working with children 
  • Able to work well independently and as a team player 
  • Willing to provide a Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, complete The Salvation Army’s Statement of Applicant for Work with Children form and complete the Armatus Abuse Risk Management and Employment Health & Safety online trainings before camp begins 
  • Available for full 7 weeks of program
  • Able to provide 2 references, 1 from an employer/supervisor and 1 from a family friend/Pastor
  • Standard First Aid and CPR an asset

HOURS: 35 hours per week

SALARY: $14 per hour
