Position Description

The Worship Leader will lead and develop the worship music ministry for North Bramalea United Church.  This position is accountable to the Worship Arts Director and will be carried out in cooperation with the Choir Director, ministers and others as appropriate, in a way that is consistent with the church Vision, Purpose and Goals.

Responsibilities:

Provide leadership to the vocal team and band for weekly worship services as well as for special services (e.g. Good Friday, Christmas Eve) and occasional extra services (e.g. Easter Sunday 3rd service).
Select, plan, prepare for and lead the music for weekly worship services as well as for special services including weekly band and vocal team practices, coordinating with the choir director, children’s choir leader, youth choir leader and others as required. 
Recruit, equip, motivate, supervise and shepherd music team members and leaders, providing opportunities for growth and serving.
Participate fully in the creative planning of the weekly and special services with the ministers, worship arts director and others, taking a leadership role for the music planning. 
Provide vision, oversight, guidance and support to volunteer leaders including the leaders of our children’s choir and youth choir.
Coordinate and schedule team members for practices and worship services.
Ensure qualified resources are in place and prepared to cover vacations/absences.
Purchase all required music except choir music, administering all CCLI and related licensing requirements within approved budgets.
Contribute to the annual Spring and Christmas music concerts.

Qualifications:

Ability to lead, organize, recruit, coordinate, and motivate musicians, singers and other leaders within the music ministry
Attested musical knowledge and competencies
Sense of humour and positive attitude 
Strong team player with the rest of the staff and congregation
Committed to the church's vision, leadership, and people 
Dependable, responsible, self-motivated and creative 
Committed to growing and shepherding others in the Christian life
Love, respect and a heart for all people 

Musical Competencies:

Ability to provide leadership to achieve high quality, authentic and worshipful music utilizing the available skilled musical resources
Ability to support a wide range of musical styles with a focus on Christian music for a younger demographic
Ability to lead worship and to train others as Sunday morning worship leaders
Strong singer.  Preferably a proficient guitar player.  Being a good instrumentalist on other instruments is desirable.

Experience with the technical aspects of contemporary services (e.g. sound boards) is a plus
