Position Description

Since 1975, The Mustard Seed Street Church (MSSC) has been fighting hunger while restoring Faith for families and individuals living in poverty, as well as the working poor, throughout the Capital Regional District.  We are a Christian community offering a continuum of care that operates the Hospitality Centre for relationship building and advocacy, the Food Security Distribution Centre, Vancouver Island’s largest, the Family Centre that supports and empowers families and our addiction recovery program at Hope Farm Healing Centre in Duncan serving all who come to us without discrimination. We also offer church services for those seeking a place to belong and grow spiritually. Through these core programs we assist over 5,000 people each month with the help of more than 50 daily volunteers and many generous financial supporters. 
Position Summary: The Warehouse Coordinator is responsible for the Operations of the Food Distribution Warehouse including health and safety and maintenance. Warehouse Coordinator is responsible for inventory control, coordination of stock between our Viewfield and Queens Ave. locations, agency food distribution programs, including management of the web-based food sharing program. The Warehouse Coordinator must demonstrate excellent leadership, interpersonal and group dynamic skills, as they will be working with multiple staff and a large volunteer compliment. 
Duties & Responsibilities   
• Be a Christian ambassador for The Mustard Seed Street Church (MSSC) in the community and provide Christian leadership to staff and volunteers in the warehouse 
• Facilitate team prayer scrums as appropriate 
• Oversite of Food Security Distribution Warehouse coordination including inventory control • Fulfill Administrative Paperwork and documentation, meeting deadlines 
• Oversee Health and Safety at Food Distribution Warehouse – safe work practices, food safety, sanitation and janitorial work in conjunction with the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, Facilities Manager and Health Department 
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, donors, vendors, partner agencies, volunteers and general public 
• Collaborate and Communicate with volunteer team to identify needs, assist in recruitment and tours for the Food Security Distribution Centre  
• Orientation, Training and oversight of food rescue volunteers working in the gleaning and bin washing stations as well as with the Give Food Get Food Program 
• Oversite of food inventory in consultation with manager  
• Product purchasing, ordering, rotation and flow, in communication with the Food Distribution Coordinator  
• Manage MSSC and partner agency Food distribution, (This includes give food get food web site)
• Manage vehicle, forklift, pallet jacks, freezers, coolers, equipment and infrastructure inspection and maintenance
• Direct supervision of transportation team and Warehouse Associate
• Drive and pick up and deliver products as needed to support the Food Security Team
• Participate in program planning and implementation
• Attend and participate in all relevant staff/team meetings and training opportunities 
• Support events as required working with Development team and Church Pastor 
• Participate in annual employee and program evaluation process
• Other duties as required 

• 5 years experience in warehouse management or related field
• Current forklift certification with experience completing inspection sheets
• Driver’s license and abstract; experience driving 5, 3 & 1 ton trucks an asset; Class 1 an asset; experience in vehicle inspection and completing inspection sheets
• Computer Skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office; competency in data collection, entry and project management software
• Experience working with volunteers 
• Current food Safe Certificate or a willingness to obtain
• Food Handling Safety Certificate or willingness to obtain
• Forklift instructor certification or willing to obtain 
• Asset: Standard First Aid and CPR-C; WHIMIS

Terms of Employment 
• This position is with The Mustard Seed Street Church, (MSSC) and requires a person who has made a Christian commitment  
• Must be willing to sign the staff code of conduct 
• This position reports to: Food Security Manager
• This is a fulltime position regularly working Tuesday to Saturday, some Sunday and evening work is required; At times this position is required to work overtime which is accumulated and taken off later  • Must read and agree to following The Mustard Seed policies which are a living, changing document • The Mustard Seed follows BC Employment Standards Law for Terminations
Must provide an acceptable criminal record check, including the level of clearance required to work with vulnerable people
