Location: Rivers Baptist Church – Rivers, MB

Rivers Baptist Church is a rural, evangelical congregation made up of many denominational backgrounds with a weekly attendance of 50-70 people. We serve the town and surrounding area of approximately 1500. The church enjoys ministering to all ages within the congregation and community through Sunday School (ages 3-18yrs), Junior and Senior Youth Groups (Grades 5-12), VBS, Senior’s lunches, personal care home services, Community Christmas Banquet and more. We also support many missions/missionaries both locally and abroad. As a church, we are fairly self-sufficient in administering the church programs and current outreach but appreciate the unifying leadership, equipping, visioning, and encouragement that comes from a pastor.
The Pastor will oversee the spiritual welfare and maturing of the congregation (as a whole and as individuals), conduct regular services, and work with the Board to provide oversight on ministries while helping to develop a growing connection with our community.
*Prepare and preach a weekly sermon; oversee Sunday services; administer ordinances (45%)
*Minister to church: pray for/with, encourage and support congregation (including visitation as needed) (15%)
*Minister to community: personal care home service, meeting with community people (15%)
*Equip congregation for ministry: guide/develop church ministries, teach evangelism (15%)
*Other duties as required including: maintain own personal spiritual growth, attend meetings (5%)
The Pastor should be an effective speaker and have interest in pastoral care and the ability to equip the congregation to reach the community. The Pastor should be able to work as a solo pastor and as part of a diverse team of lay ministry workers. The Pastor must be in agreement with the Constitution and By-laws of Rivers Baptist Church.
A degree from a recognized theological college is preferred and previous experience is preferred but not required. Successful applicant should enjoy living and working in a rural community.
This position is a part-time position (hours somewhat negotiable). Compensation will be commensurate with training and experience and will be fairly negotiated.
