Position Description

Finance Manager

Are you a hands-on finance leader with a positive, can-do attitude?  Are you a strong team player who has been looking for an opportunity that will allow you to be a part of something more meaningful? As the Finance Manager for our client, Grant Memorial Baptist Church, we have that opportunity for you. 

Reporting to the Executive Pastor, the Finance Manager will oversee all accounting activities including budgeting and financial reporting related to the operations of Grant Memorial Baptist Church, a church with 2,200 constituents and an annual operating budget of $2.4 million.

The Role:

æ Manage and administer the day-to-day financial policies and procedures.
æ Develop and implement financial and administrative policies and procedures.
æ Prepare and ensure completeness and accuracy of monthly financial statements for each program area as well as work with managers to develop program budgets that fit within the overall organization budget.
æ Ensure that compliance with all external reporting such as GST returns, tax returns and lobbyist reporting is met.
æ Work with the external auditors to ensure that the annual financial audit is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
æ Review and assist in when necessary, the preparation of regular payroll.
æ Ensure adoption and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles applicable to not-for-profit charitable organizations
æ Attend regular meetings of the Finance Committee as well as other meetings as requested.

You and Your Experience:

æ You have completed post-secondary education in a financial, accounting or business discipline.
æ You have your CPA, CA, CGA or CMA designation.
æ You have a minimum 5 years of experience in a finance management role.
æ You have management experience in a not-for-profit environment.
æ You have experience in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to financial statements and budgeting.
æ You have strong attention to detail and are a highly productive professional who excels at problem solving.
æ You have strong interpersonal and leadership skills and have an understanding of and adherence to confidentiality and privacy issues.
