Position Description

Hope Mission operates two Christian Summer camps which provide a summer camp experience for kids from single parent, foster and group homes.

Brightwood Ranch is 220 acres of rolling hills located one hour west of Edmonton, Alberta.  We operate programs for youth ages 6-17 through 6 day resident and outtripping camps.  Our mainsite focuses on building relationships with kids through dinner cook outs, overnight campouts, cabin group campfires and other small group activities.  Brightwood runs in-house leveled horse camps for one, two, four and eight weeks.  These include personal knowledge and riding skills, teaching young kids to ride, day riding trips and a week-long trip to ride in the mountains.   We also run youth development programs for one, two, four and eight weeks.  These include personal development, learning about and teaching youth, and an outdoor educational component (tubing down the river, lake and river canoe trips, camping, and hiking in the mountains).

Camp Hope is 104 acres located 20 minutes west of Calgary, Alberta along the Elbow River.  We operate 8 weeks for youth ages 6-15 through 6 day resident camps.  Children sleep in Tipis and focus on building relationships, outdoor activities, and wilderness skills.  We also run a Leadership Development Program for one, two or four weeks.  This includes personal development, skill development, servant leadership, learning about and teaching kids and youth, and outdoor education which includes some off-site trips to hike in the mountains.

Hope Mission has a vision that men, women, youth and children who come to our doors would come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.  This vision can be fulfilled only if all staff are diligent in serving, strengthening and uplifting people in the name of Jesus Christ.

Camp Activities Include: Horseback riding, archery, climbing wall, low ropes course, zip line, riflery, drama, crafts, petting zoo, wilderness skills, Bible studies, chapels, games and much more.

Counsellor Position Description:

-To lead and guide a camper in such a way that they will have an opportunity to receive Christ and/or grow in their Christian life

-To be responsible for the campers’ safety and hygiene

-To teach or help teach assigned activities

-To lead cabin Bible studies and devotions each day and participate in chapel services

Counsellors are needed for children, youth and horse camps.  This is decided during our staff training and staff will remain in a program for a minimum of 4 weeks and up to 8 weeks.
