Position Description

The primary role of this position is to oversee, lead and manage the Grad Program for HCOS.

Duties and Responsibilities

Day to Day Administration
• Oversee the educational plans of HCOS students in Grades 10 through Graduation.
• Oversee and implement Grad Program curriculum as per BC Ministry of Education expectations, working closely with the HCOS Curriculum Development Leader to do so.
• Manage day to day administrative functions, questions, emails, and parent and student concerns.
• Address any concerns presented by the Director of BC Online School (BCOS) that involve Grad Program teacher performance.
• Select, train and support Regional Grad Academic Advisors for Grad Program students.
• Provide Grad Program teachers with general support, information and training as needed.
• Supervise Provincial Assessment information and communication, working closely with the Data Management department on logistics
• Create and maintain Grad Program related information and operating procedures in SOPHIE
• Any other related duties that may arise as needed.
Department Management and Cooperative Duties
• Help develop and sustain a healthy school culture, in accordance with the HCOS Mission and Values and with the KCCS statement of faith
• Meet and collaborate with Academic Head of School and Business Head of School in relation to general school operation and events
• Maintain appropriate collaboration and communication with other schools divisions and departments
• Function as a Divisional Director as part of the school leadership team
Reporting Duties
• Oversee formal and informal reporting periods (report cards)
• Work with Data Manager as needed
• Help coordinate and plan for Ministry of Education evaluations and monitoring visits
Personnel Duties
• Interview, hire, determine teaching assignments and evaluate teachers working in the Grad Program. If this includes BCOS teaching responsibilities, include the Director of BCOS in the process.
• Plan professional development of teachers working in the Grad Program
• Manage Staff certification, credentials and reporting to the Independent Schools Branch
• Participate in annual contract preparations
Budget Duties
• Contribute to budget planning and manage financial requirements where needed

Qualifications
• Certified BC Teacher
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to prioritize workload and flexibility to manage multiple tasks to ensure scheduled deadlines are met
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook), Google Docs and Encom
Working Conditions
• Office environment. May work on-site at Kelowna offices or remotely from home office
• The approximate hours per week are 40 hours, averaged over a 12 month period, and is subject to the policy for “Hours of Work Expectations for Management”
Other Requirements
• Travel to meetings and conferences as required
• If based off-site, must be regularly and reliably available via Zoom, text or phone

Working Conditions
• Office environment. May work on-site at Kelowna offices or remotely from home office
• The approximate hours per week are 40 hours, averaged over a 12 month period, and is subject to the policy for “Hours of Work Expectations for Management”

Remuneration
• $80,000 annually
• 3 weeks annual vacation (or more based on length of employment with HCOS)
