  • Assists corps officer and CFS Community worker in operation of a community based 3 on 3 basketball program for children and youth
  • Coaches and trains participants in development of basketball skills
  • Organizes games/tournaments
  • Facilitates drop-in basketball program
  • Assists with operation of day camp program for children by leading the sports/games activities and assisting in other activities including arts & crafts, music and swimming as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • The applicant must meet the eligibility requirements for hiring under the Canada Summer Jobs program
  • Must have been a full-time student in 2017-18 academic year and be returning to full-time enrollment in 2018-19
  • Successful completion of grade 12 (enrollment in a post-secondary education program preferred)
  • Extensive knowledge of the rules of basketball
  • Excellent ability to play basketball
  • Significant knowledge of and skills in other summer sports
  • Strong swimming skills would be an asset
  • Experience working with children
  • Ability to coach players and teach sports skills
  • Ability to resolve conflict
  • Ability to work patiently with people (including children) from difficult backgrounds
  • Ability to protect confidentiality
  • Ability to understand and follow direction
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Effective verbal communication
  • Must be comfortable working within a Christian church environment

HOURS: 32 hours per week

SALARY: $14.00 - $14.18 per hour
