Position Description

Night Manager

Adam House is a 20-bed Christian home for newly arrived refugee claimants. We are located near Dufferin and Bloor Streets in the city of Toronto. While residing at Adam House clients are assisted with immigration and settlement issues.

Hours: Average of 35 hours per week, evenings, weekends, overnight

Compensation: $14/hour

Reports to: Program Manager, Adam House

Objective: The primary objective of a night manager is to provide for and ensure the safety and security of the residents in the absence of other staff members. The night manager also ensures that the home is cleaned to meet health and safety standards. The night manager is an integral part of the AH team and is encouraged to share his/her faith as opportunities arrive.

-Responsible for recycling and waste management in conjunction with the residents
-Provide household orientation to new residents
-Ensure that residents complete their evening chore assignments as per a posted schedule (and with your guidance/assistance as necessary)
-Ensure that quiet time is observed from 11pm-7am
-Be familiar with the ‘Terms and Conditions’—a set of rules that residents are required to abide by while residing at AH.  The night manager will be in discussion with the Senior Administrator on how to manage behaviour that is inconsistent with terms
-Ensure all doors are locked at 11:30pm
-Complete a nightly log, detailing occupancy and noting any special incidens
-Be available/deal with emergencies in an appropriate manner, includes calling 911 if necessary
-Attend and actively contribute to weekly staff meetings and house meetings

Necessary Training (to be provided): First Aid & CPI
