Position Description

Overview of Role

First Baptist Church Tillsonburg believes in the importance of investing in the next generation so that they may know and follow Jesus. As such, FBC is seeking a full time (40 hours per week) Director of Next Generation Ministries to reach, empower and nurture young people and their families as they grow in Christ.

Overview of Church and Community

First Baptist Church Tillsonburg was founded in 1853 and has built a strong reputation in the community as a welcoming and inviting church. The average Sunday morning attendance is 150 people with a total of 250 regular attenders. The congregation is made up of a healthy mix of youth, young families, singles and seniors who are all eager to serve God together. FBC's leadership is made up of a Lead Pastor, Rev. Steven Amorin who has served this church for the past 11 years, a Board of Deacons who oversee each of the ministry teams as well as a Board of Directors who oversee finances, policies, facilities and staffing.

Among the many ministry programs offered for all ages is KidsROCK, a Wednesday night program held at a local school gym with a regular attendance of 15-20 students in grades 3-6. The Sr. Youth program currently meets on Friday nights for youth in grades 7-12. Kids and youth in both of these groups are an even mix of church and community youth. Sunday School welcomes an average weekly attendance of 20 students from nursery to high school.

Over the past 10 years FBC Tillsonburg has been working towards building a brand new church facility that will enhance ministry and help to carry forward future mission in the community. The existing church building has been sold and the congregation now meets each Sunday morning in the Tillsonburg Community Centre auditorium for worship. Several rental rooms are used for the Sunday School program. A downtown “FBC Ministry Centre” houses staff offices, meeting spaces and the church library throughout the week. FBC currently owns 5.3 acres at the South end of town and plans are well underway to begin building the new facility on this site in 2019.
