Position Description

Position Overview:

The Finance and Database Administrator is committed to ensuring the administrative functions related to finance and database management are run efficiently and with excellence.  Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the Finance and Database Administrator will manage all bookkeeping functions including financial reporting as well as maintaining various databases and records.  The incumbent works to ensure that Compass Point Bible Church (CPBC) is striving to accomplish the vision as laid out by senior staff. 

Responsibilities:

Finance Administration

Responsible for managing the day-to-day finance activities of CPBC including:

·         Bookkeeping functions for both CPBC and 541 Eatery & Exchange (A/R, A/P, account/bank reconciliations, etc.)

·         Prepare finance reports for Director of Operations and/or staff on a monthly basis or as requested

·         Administer payroll for all CPBC staff (including 541 Eatery & Exchange)  

·         Prepare invoices for facility rentals

·         Ensure compliance with requirements of the Ontario Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act and other applicable legislation – with the support of the Director of Operations

·         Safe and secure record keeping and storage of all financial records

·         Regulatory reporting activities including; Government remittances, T3010, T3, T4 Summary and others as required

·         File HST Rebates

·         Assist Director of Operations with annual budget preparation

·         Participate in annual Financial Audit through liaison with Auditors

 

Database Administration

Responsible for overseeing the update and maintenance of all church databases.

·       Maintain and update member/adherent database as changes occur

·       Maintain and update volunteer database, including ensuring all required documentation is on file (Police Checks, Plan to Protect, etc.)

·       Maintain newcomer records to ensure appropriate follow-up is completed

·       Maintain personnel records for all CPBC staff (including 541 Eatery & Exchange)

·       Ensure records are maintained for staff vacation, sick and personal days, compensation changes and benefits

 

Other areas of activity

·       Front line support for the following volunteer roles:  Finance Deacon, Envelope Steward

·       Finance adminstration support for Director of Operations

·       Other duties as required

 

Qualifications, Experience & Education

Required:

·       Mature follower of Jesus Christ - authentic lifestyle demonstrating consistent character and spiritual growth

·       Strong biblical foundation for wise management in a church setting

·       In full agreement with CPBC’s Mission, Vision, Values and Beliefs

·       Experience successfully administering finances in a church, business and/or not-for-profit setting with strong organizational skills and attention to detail

·       Proven track record of implementing plans to completion, getting projects and tasks completed within timelines and on budget while also working well with and through others in the process

·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills

·       Demonstrated ability to excel while working in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment with diverse scope

·       Minimum College Level diploma in Finance/Accounting

·       Experience and proficiency in working with Quickbooks PRO

·       Above average skills in working with Excel and various databases

·       Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office suite of programs
