Position Description

            POSITION:       Night Watch

  REPORTING TO:        Lead DCs and Student Life Director

     SUPERVISING:        Students and sleeping quarters


Rock Solid Refuge is a 12-month, biblically-based residential program for 13 – 18-year-old boys with life-controlling issues. This program encompasses spiritual, academic, and vocational training to equip students to return to society as responsible citizens. Rock Solid Refuge is a farm setting, 34 km north east of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan.



  • A Night Watch staff will represent Jesus Christ through servant leadership by implementing biblical precepts, scripture, and prayer in daily life and counsel. This requires the pursuit of God through interpersonal relationships, accountability, regular church attendance, and consistent personal devotions.
  • Supervise students and ensure their safety, 9:30 pm – 9:00 am, Sunday through Thursday, Friday and Saturday hours, subject to the weekend schedule; seven days on shift, seven off



  • Personal relationship with Christ from an Evangelical point of view
  • References attesting to a lifestyle consistent with Christian faith
  • An understanding of integrating the Christian faith in relating to students
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • First Aid course recommended; NVCI and safety training provided by RSR

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor students and lower level rooms during the night
  • Assist Direct Contact (DC) staff until the end of their shift and in the morning till 9:00
  • Do scheduled checks of bathroom, student bedrooms, laundry room, and student lounge
  • Record anything unusual, even if you think it’s not important
  • Report any concerns to the lead DC or Student Life Director
  • Keep staff lounge door locked throughout the night
  • Submit your check sheet to the Lead DC each day
  • Various other tasks will be assigned for you to work on during your shift
  • Attend weekly staff meetings; these are paid time
  • Carry a cell phone


Minimum wage; Room and board, $275/pay period (monthly) or $12.50/day, dependent on availability
