Position Description

Whyte Ridge Baptist Church (Winnipeg, MB) has an opening for a Children’s Ministry Director. The position is .75 FTE with a flexible start date.
We are seeking an energetic, dedicated individual with a passion for children and their relationship to Jesus Christ. We anticipate a season of change and growth as we move to a larger facility and location around January 2019.

Director of Children’s Ministries Job Description
Mission: To come alongside and equip families in creating a Christ-centered foundation for their children so that, in God’s timing, each child will enter into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
This position reports to the Senior Pastor.

1. Core responsibilities include: Time %  70 %
 a. Operate within the vision of WRBC and be a leader in promoting and focusing that vision for all areas of Children’s Ministries, (Nursery to Grade 4)
 b. Provide leadership, guidance, support and care to all those serving in Children’s Ministries,
 c. Select and implement age appropriate curriculum for all areas of Children’s Ministries
   i. Ensure seamless progression for the children into other areas of Children’s and Student ministries
 d. Administer and uphold the Whyte Ridge Baptist Church Plan to Protect policy,
   i. Obtain and secure adequate records of registrations, attendances, and incidents for all areas of Children’s Ministries,
 e. Champion Children’s Ministries
   i. Create exciting, welcoming and dynamic classrooms and experiences
   ii. Outside the church (i.e. summer ministries, faith @ home)
   iii. Advocate for Children’s Ministries within the Church
   iv. Initiate the integration of Children’s Ministries into the Church wide services and programs (i.e. Family Sundays, Christmas program, Mission Projects etc.)
 f. Develop summer ministry strategy
 g. Prepare the annual church budget for Children’s Ministries,
 h. Pray continually for the Children's Ministry of WRBC.
 i. Attend weekly church staff meetings and at least two worship services per month
Desired Outcomes
 Children are nurtured in a relationship with Jesus Christ through Biblical teaching, scripture memory, and the obedience of faith (serving others, sharing their faith)
 Children’s Ministry operates within and contributes to the overall vision of WRBC
 Effective leadership, organization and communication is provided to all those serving in CM
 The Plan to Protect policy is always current and approved by the BOCG
 Curriculum is biblically faithful, age appropriate, and responsive to different learning styles.

2. Enlist and equip volunteers 25%
 a. Coordinate a leadership team for Children’s Ministry
 b. Provide ongoing coaching and resourcing (training) for all volunteers in Children’s Ministries.
 c. Provide support and encouragement to those serving in Children’s Ministries
Desired Outcomes
 The leadership team and volunteers are well trained and are meeting the goals of the ministry (including the Plan to Protect).
 Leaders and support workers are energised and encouraged about the program

3. Coordinate the programming for summer ministries 5%
 a. Coordinate, direct and mentor the summer staff to ensure quality of the program
 b. Provide support to summer staff to get the volunteers necessary for the program
 c. Apply for available grants
Desired Outcomes
 The summer programs run well and achieves its objective
 The program has adequate support workers and ideas for improvement are then incorporated

The Director of Children’s Ministries shall have the following Qualifications:
 A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a servant leader who loves children and wants them to develop that same relationship
 Awareness of his / her own Spiritual gifts; and the capacity to teach, lead, encourage, administrate and communicate well.
 Understanding and agreement with WRBC’s faith statement
 A passion to lead children to Christ and grow in their faith,
 Ability to organize, recruit and develop both people and ideas
 Interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other ministry leaders
 Ability to communicate with K-4 children at their level of understanding as well as their parents and the CM team
 Computer and technology skills essential.
 Experience teaching children preferred
 Educational background – open to formal and informal educational qualifications
