Position Description

Ministry Focus:   

To provide vision,  oversight and direction to our Family and Youth ministries

Part Time position:  approximately 20 hours/ week

Specific Responsibilities in the following areas:

  1.   Oversee ministries to children and teens in our church:  
    1. Sunday school / Children's church
    2. Children’s midweek program
    3. Youth midweek program
  2. Recruit, train and mobilize a team of volunteers to serve in each of these ministries
  3. Develop an overall strategy with these leaders for outreach and discipleship of our youth
  4. Develop and maintain personal contact with families with children and teens
  5. Keep parents and congregation informed of all children’s and  youth activities in the church
  6.  Act as an encourager and troubleshooter for volunteer staff in these group
  7. Assist in Worship Services and other responsiblities as needed.
  8. Encourage networking with CBOQ  Youth and other youth groups in the area.

Qualifications

  1. Must be a born-again Christian, in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Must have a passion for seeing children and teens grow in their walk with God.
  3. Must be in agreement with First Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith
  4. Must conform to NT leadership qualities as outlined in 1 Timothy & Titus
  5. Should have had some formal post-secondary training for Christian ministry (Bible College/Seminary),  or working towards it.                                                                                                                            
  6. Hands-on Experience in Youth Ministry, Evangelism or Discipleship Training in a church ministry setting
  7. Ability to motivate people for ministry
  8. Disciplined, well-organized, goal-oriented, self-confident
  9. Experience working in a multi-cultural ministry environment
