Position Description

CBC is a multi-generational church with two language focuses located just outside of Guelph. CBC exists to make disciples by helping people believe, grow, and multiply the gospel of Christ.

CBC is looking for a high capacity Children’s Ministry Pastor who is passionate about equipping Godly leaders to work with kids. 

 This role exists to provide ministry and support for our families with children from our nursery to grade 4. 

The Pastor will be responsible for the ministry to the families of approximately 100 children from infancy to grade 4.

The Pastor will oversee a fantastic team of co-ordinators and volunteers.

This position reports to the Lead Pastor

Leadership & Vision:

Develop, communicate and execute a vision and ministry plan for children’s ministry that runs parallel to the ministry goals of CBC.
Build and maintain a leadership structure that recruits, trains, and empowers volunteers to teach and mentor children.
Identify and mentor children to serve and become leaders within the ministry.
Ensure that the “heart” of the ministry permeates the leadership teams.
Communicate, inspire, own the vision, mission, and values throughout children’s ministry and the entire church.

Ministry Activities:

Cultivate a culture that values children and inspires them towards spiritual growth.
Using the “believe, grow, and multiply” model, develop and execute strategies and processes that lead children and their families into a deeper understanding of God and His word.
Work collaboratively with the pastoral staff and volunteers to ensure strategic and smooth transitions between ministries.
Oversee all children's and family ministry environments, weekly programming, missions projects and discipleship events (e.g. GIFT, Plan to Protect, Summer Camps, Sunday mornings, Family Skate, Back to Church Sunday)
Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of ministry programs/activities. 
Coordinate child care programs for church events.
Provide pastoral care to children and families.

Administration & Communication:

Provide pastoral and organizational leadership.  
Provide regular communication the broader congregation about the ministry to children
Administer and oversee Calvary Baptist Church’s Plan to Protect program

Other Responsibilities:

Participate in baptism services.
Attend and participate in staff meetings, retreats, church events, etc.
Other related duties as required.

The successful candidate will have:

The ability to support and promote CBC’s beliefs, mission, vision and values.
A minimum of 5 years leadership experience in children’s ministry (or similar experience).
An undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent experience.
 A calling, passion and gifting for children’s ministry. 
Strong administrative and organizational abilities.
Demonstrated leadership skills and be a leader of leaders who builds and motivates teams.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in multi-staffed teams. 
The ability to communicate effectively with children and families, both verbal and written.
A high capacity, energetic self-starter who can think strategically, adapt and problem-solve.
Excellent computer skills and be proficient in MS Office, internet, social media, and database maintenance.  We currently use Planning Centre Online for many of our churches needs and the candidate will need to be able to grow in a PCO environment

This is a full-time position and must be able to work on Sundays and attend all services.
