Position Description

Children’s Ministry Director, Maternity Leave Position. (14 months) Beginning November 1st 2018 

MCBC is a growing multi-congregational church in Mississauga Ontario. MCBC was founded by Cantonese Canadians and has grown to plant two other congregations Mandarin and English. They are seeking a Director of Children’s Ministries to cover the maternity leave of their children’s pastor. (Approximately 14 months). The candidate does not need to speak Chinese as all Children programs are run in English. However, an understanding of Chinese culture would be an asset. 

The ideal candidate should have a passionate faith in Jesus Christ, and experience serving in children’s ministry. This is a part-time position requiring availability of 22 hours per week. General responsibilities include coordination of existing Children’s Ministries (Ages 0- Grade 5). This includes two Sunday morning services and our Friday mid-week program as well as various outreach events throughout the year such as Christmas, Family Day, Easter and our Summer Camp program. (1 Week)  The Children’s Ministry Director will work to support various department coordinators in the nursery, preschool and elementary school program. They will also work with the youth pastor to help children transitioning out of children’s ministry into youth. The ideal candidate will be a good team player, be teachable and be willing to work with the existing pastoral staff. Ministry Duties and Responsibilities 

 Alongside of the Pastoral staff continue the vision, objectives, and goals for children’s ministry at MCBC  
 Pray for the teaching staff, children, and families of MCBC
 Coordinate Children’s Ministries (Ages 0- Grade 5) for two Sunday Services and our Friday Mid-Week program
 Working with the children’s ministry departments plan and coordinate various children’s outreach events such as Christmas, Family Day, Easter and Children’s Camp
 Oversee the follow up of families who attend outreach events with the help of the media team. 
 Support the camp director and their team in planning and executing the camp
 Coordinate training, ensure certification, and maintain records of all volunteers who work with children according to the Plan to Protect Program.
 Maintain necessary records for children involved in the ministries of MCBC, as required by the Plan to Protect. This includes updating our digital check in system as new children begin attending our programs 
 Follow the yearly calendar as set out by the Children’s pastor on Maternity leave and the other pastoral staff.   
 Work alongside Media team to promote children’s events and outreaches   Maintain communication with parents through our brightwheel communication app and send regular updates.   Communicate events and schedules in a timely fashion through the monthly bulletin, pulpit announcements, and email and phone messages. 
 Purchase, inventory, and control educational supplies as necessary 
 Work alongside other pastors and ministry leaders to recruit new volunteers twice a year through our church’s general serve fair in September and the Children and Youth Ministry Fair in June. 
 Help families to be aware of other ministries available to serve them at MCBC. Direct and encourage families to continue their Spiritual growth by encouraging small group involvement, attendance of special training courses and developing regular family devotions.
