Position Description

Pastor of Children’s Ministry - Family Ministry

The role of Pastor of Children’s Ministry is, in conjunction with the Children’s Ministry Steering Committee, to give leadership and bring integration to the Children’s ministry here at South Edmonton Alliance Church in order to help advance the mission and vision of our Family Ministry which is to see church leaders and parents synchronized around a master plan to build faith and character in their sons and daughters. The focus of the position will be to provide vision, leadership, structure and pastoral care to the children, families, volunteers and Children’s ministry staff of South Edmonton Alliance Church.

Position Qualifications

Has evidence of the spiritual gifts of leadership, teaching, shepherding, administration and encouragement.
Spiritually mature with a deep and proven spiritual walk, modeling an authentic walk with Christ.
Christ-like servant heart, committed to the spiritual growth of volunteers and families of children.
Personally committed to reaching lost people for Christ.
Highly motivated, creative, and flexible.
Relational style of ministry, with high skills in equipping and mentorship.
Interpersonal/management skills, including the ability to supervise and encourage volunteers.
Demonstrate ability to plan and organize ministry focuses.
Personal lifestyle that reflects biblical values in purity, physical health and wellness, personal finances, etc.
Encourages balanced living and boundaries with self and others
Team player who upholds the church and its leaders in prayer, and supports the vision, objectives and strategies of the church leadership.
Ability to operate within an established budget.
Bachelor of Arts in pastoral ministry, or equivalent.
Full accreditation as a licensed worker in C&MA.

Understand, support and live out South Edmonton Alliance Church Statement of Faith.
Adhere to and uphold the Personnel Policies, and Lifestyle Agreement of South Edmonton Alliance Church and the C&MA.
Execute the role to the glory of God

Position Expectations

The Pastor of Children’s Ministry is empowered to apply his/her spiritual gifts, passion, work style and personality in this role toward:

Providing visionary leadership and support to the children’s ministry staff and volunteers.
Initiating, implementing and evaluating ongoing ministries to children and families.
Ensuring staff and volunteers receive appropriate leadership development.
Recruiting, mobilizing and training volunteers to serve and engage in various ministry opportunities.
Ensuring that the curriculum taught is biblically based and in line with our core truths.
Providing pastoral care when needed to children and their parents.
Providing pastoral care to volunteers and Children’s ministry staff.
Preparing the participants of Children’s ministry to integrate with the Junior High and High School ministry at the appropriate time.
Equip Parents to act as spiritual leaders in their home.
Attend and participate in Pastoral staff meetings.
To develop a plan and budget for this ministry consistent with the planning cycle.
To network with other Children’s Ministry pastors.
