Position Description


We are looking for an interim Young Families and Youth Leader who will help us transition into a new phase of our ministry at Leaside United Church as a part of our current Missional Development process. Leaside United Church (LUC) is a welcoming and affirming congregation in the Leaside and East York community. The Mission of Leaside United Church is to grow a caring and vibrant spiritual community that embodies God’s unconditional love following the teachings of Jesus and takes responsibility for being co-creators of a world that works for all. We are seeking a leader who will help us move our youth program in exciting new directions and help us give to and be transformed by the world. You will inspire intergenerational connections between children, youth, adults, and seniors. The Interim Young Families and Youth position is a part-time appointment from October 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. You will work in collaboration with the Minister and the Worship and Nurturing Spirituality Committee to support our congregation moving into our exciting future.


  • Plan and lead LUCY (Leaside United Church Youth Program)
  • Coordinate Church School
  • Teach Church School if needed
  • Lead Drama Presentations
  • Coordinate Events for Families & Community
  • In conjunction with Minister:
  • Support and Develop nurturing spirituality for all ages
  • Support LGBTQ2 affirmation
  • Attend and participate in the following committees and meetings:
    • Worship and Nurturing Spirituality Committee (ex-officio member)
    • Service Planning
    • General Staff Meetings
    • Ministry & Personal (M&P) as required

Qualifications: (minimum requirements)

  • Preference of post-secondary education with relation to children and youth as well as Christian education experience
  • Experience in organizing and sourcing children and youth activities
  • Support for the involvement and integration of children, teens and young families into LUC
  • Pass Background Check
  • Ability to work with differently abled children and youth

Hours of Position – 24 hours per week


  • $25.00 per hour
  • Benefits in accordance with United Church of Canada Policy
