Muskoka Woods is a Christian youth development organization that welcomes everyone to an experience for a lifetime. We are located on the shores of beautiful Lake Rosseau and specialize in summer camp, day camp, school trips, group retreats and leadership development for all ages. We exist to inspire youth to shape their world.


Position:                      Director of Summer Programs

Reports to:                  Summer Camp Director

Employment Status:    Full Time

Location:                      Toronto Office: 20 Bamburgh Circle,  Scarborough, ON

*Please note:  September to May this position is located at the Scarborough office.  June through to the end of August this position is located at the Resort in Rosseau, ON. - Accommodation is provided.


Job Purpose:

This position leads, manages and is accountable for all aspects of the summer guest experience and developing program excellence. The Program Director oversees the WILD, Venture, Junior High and Senior High sections. The Program Director brainstorms, plans and executes all evening program development.



Key Areas of Responsibility


Signature Experiences (50%)

Incorporate directives of Signature Experience to all programs
Adapts current programs and develops new programs to add value to guests
Continuously improves program delivery to enable increased mission impact      
Benchmark Muskoka Woods’ current programs and make recommendations
Ensure all summer programming runs smoothly including: evening programming, guest issues, opening day show, specialty weeks, exceptionality program, etc.     
Brainstorm, plan and implement Classic week programming
Assisting summer camp director in brainstorming, planning and implementing of programming across all aspects of camp


Customer Service (20%)

Responsible for parent & survey follow-up throughout the summer and during the year
Assisting seasonal Program Directors with guest related issues that arise in the summer


Staff Hiring & Training (15%)

Responsible for interviewing and hiring all Program Directors and Section Heads
Responsible to aid in the development of the Director training plan
Responsible for department specific training with: Directors, Sections and Counsellors
Assist the HR department with seasonal staff interviews  




Guest Ministry (10%)

Assist with Summer Camp Director in brainstorming, planning and executing of guest related ministry
Plan and lead CEO service trip to New Orleans including all planning meetings and interviews


Other (5%)

Work cross departmentally (schools/groups, leadership studio) as required
Participate in meetings as needed
Participate in corporate meetings such as Town Hall and the Annual Retreat

Experience Required:

College/University degree
5 years of summer camp experience or the equivalent in working with children and youth
2 – 3 years of proven leadership experience


Essential Functions:

Ability to communicate, both written and verbal with guests and staff
Able to stand, walk and work for 8 to 10 hours a day in the summer months
Possess physical and mental strength and endurance to maintain constant supervision of guests and staff during the summer months
Ability to work 6 days a week for 10 weeks during the summer months.  (time to be given in lieu after the summer)
