Position Description

Maternity Leave Position. March, 2019

Celebration Church Toronto is a multi-ethnic and multi-generational church located in North York. The mission of the church is to use every opportunity, in every possible place, with every possible method, to reach every possible person, with the Good News of Jesus Christ. This focus is both here in Toronto, and also around the globe through an extensive missions program. 

Celebration Church is looking for a Children’s Ministry Pastor to provide ministry for children where they are loved, accepted and valued in Christ. The Pastor will be responsible for a ministry of approximately 150 children from infancy to grade 8, and oversee a team of approximately 50 volunteers.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all programming and ministry for children ages birth – 8th grade, including Sunday mornings, summer programming, special events, etc…
  • Choose and prepare curriculum for each program and each age level.
  • Create environments, activities and programming for each age group that will facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth.
  • Maintain, recruit, train, schedule and lead teams of volunteers.
  • Provide care for children and families within the church including hospital visits and follow-up.
  • Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and families.
  • Plan and oversee special events such as VBS, Fall Festival, Baby Dedications, etc…

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to build and lead volunteer teams
  • A minimum of 2 years leadership experience in children’s ministry (or similar experience).
  • An undergraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent experience. 
  • Bible college or seminary degree would be an asset.  
  • Strong administrative and organizational abilities.
  • Experience in a cross-cultural, multi-generational context.
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • The ability to communicate effectively with children and families, both verbal and written.
  • A high capacity, energetic self-starter who can think strategically, adapt and problem-solve.
  • Very good computer skills and be proficient in MS Office, internet, social media, and database. 

This is a full-time position and must be able to work on Sundays and attend all services.
