Position Description

We are currently seeking to hire a part-time pastor (possibility of becoming full-time) to join our staff team. This individual will work collaboratively with the Family Pastor and the Worship Coordinator in planning the morning services, including the themes that give shape to the preaching schedule, with the aim of equipping the congregation to know and serve God better. This person will bring continuity to the Sunday morning worship services by preaching and by ensuring that others are appointed to preach other weeks. The individual is also responsible in providing pastoral care and building relationship with the congregation during Sunday morning services and by actively participating in other church events.

Required Qualifications:

  • Evidence of a personal and growing relationship with God through Jesus Christ
  • Evidence of ability and gifts of teaching and leadership
  • A track record of living according to the Biblical standards for church leadership
  • A track record of being a good communicator and team player
  • Willingness to become familiar with the congregation of Elim Chapel (effective preaching grows out of relationships)
  • Willingness to fit in with the culture of Elim Chapel, respecting its history, its traditions and worship styles, and its current unique demographic makeup
  • Willingness to work as a team member, supportive of other staff, Elders and Deacons, and respectful of all who serve within the congregation in any capacity
  • Working in or open to bivocational or tent-making ministry preferred

Conditions of Employment:

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Agreement with Elim Chapel’s doctrinal statement and governing documents
  • Hours are flexible, but the expectation would be an average of 25 hours a week
  • Valid criminal record check and child abuse check are required for this position
