Children’s Ministry Opportunity

Bay Park Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a Pastor of Children’s Ministry or a Director of Children’s Ministry intern.  Bay Park is a multi-generational suburban church of 450 in a growing community of 150,000. The city of Kingston is located on the scenic north shore of Lake Ontario between Toronto and Montreal.

  • Develop and oversee programming for the spiritual formation of children (nursery to grade 5).
  • Select and implement curriculum for all children’s programs (e.g., Sunday school, mid-week program, VBS, etc.).
  • Apply Bay Park’s vision and mission to allow kids to experience God.
  • Recruit and develop a dynamic leadership team of volunteers by providing resources and training.
  • Provide leadership, support, and oversight to all children’s ministry volunteers.
  • Develop and implement policies for the safety and security of children, including Plan to Protect training.
  • Annually develop and oversee the Children’s Ministry budget so it effectively and wisely utilizes church resources and maximizes ministry opportunity.
  • Equip parents to fulfil their calling as the primary spiritual leaders of their children.
  • Use effective modes of communication designed to keep families engaged and informed of current learning, programs and opportunities.
  • Release parents and children to community outreach and gospel influence.
  • Engage the congregation in intergenerational discipleship and fellowship.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Meet the biblical qualifications of character and life as outlined in Titus 1.
  • Have a demonstrated track record of good leadership abilities and people skills.
  • Be skilled in administration and organization.
  • Post-secondary education, preferably with a degree/diploma in children’s ministry, religious education, and/or teaching.  
  • Experience working with and teaching children.
  • Ability to build, lead, and equip a volunteer team.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Experience working with parents/adults.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Proficient using current technology and communication tools.
