Position Description

GracePoint Baptist Church is looking to fill the position of Family Ministries Director, starting June/July 2019.

GracePoint is a vibrant, growing, multicultural, intergenerational church community located in Toronto in a highly visible, modern church facility.

The initial, year 1, primary responsibilities of this staff position are as follows:

  • to provide oversight leadership to our current Sunday morning Children’s Ministry volunteer staff
  • to develop and oversee a leadership team for the current Young Adults Ministry 
  • to provide point leadership to our current Youth Ministry volunteer staff, being actively involved in their weekly Friday evening program (ie. serving as Youth Director), with the purpose of developing a ministry team able to give leadership to the Youth Ministry in year 2  

After the first year, the primary responsibilities of this staff position will adjust as follows: 

  • to provide oversight leadership to the Youth Ministry volunteer staff
  • to provide point leadership in expanding i) our Children’s Ministry to include a mid-week, monthly, or quarterly outreach oriented non-Sunday program, ii) our Young Adults Ministry to include an active social component designed to foster meaningful community and reach out to unchurched peers, and iii) our Youth Ministry beyond the current Friday evening program 
  • to create and implement a strategic plan designed to disciple and support parents having children and youth in our church

The position requirements include:

  • testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ
  • having been baptized by immersion as a believer
  • acceptance of the church’s Statement of Faith and church leadership Ethical Lifestyle Policy
  • strong Christian witness
  • experience working with children, youth and young adults in a ministry context
  • Canadian citizenship

The position status is 20 hours per week, but with the possibility of additional hours if the candidate is suitable to serve in other areas of ministry (ie. Worship, Local & Global Engagement, Care & Counseling, etc.)
