The role of the Associate Pastor is to work together with the Senior Pastor to advance the purpose and values of The Open Door within the church and throughout the whole community. The Associate Pastor is the primary support person for the Senior Pastor and will work alongside the Leadership Team and Ministry Leaders to carry out the church’s mission and assist with the development and nurturing of the church. This includes assisting with service planning and design, periodic speaking, meeting with individuals, communicating vision and information, and Small Group leadership and coordination. Anyone applying for this position needs to have a proven record of care, coordination, and clear communication.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support the Senior Pastor in the overall vision casting and leadership of the church’s teaching and weekend service planning, design and execution.
  • Weekend Service involvement: using your unique gifts to serve the church in the service.
  • Overseeing and coaching Small Group Leaders and supporting them in their care and teaching.
  • Care for and walk with individuals in need of spiritual care and council.
  • Preform weddings and funerals as needed.
  • Overseeing and coordinating various church ministries as required. Must be a self-starter

Job Skills and Requirements:

  • This position prefers a minimum of 3 years of proven ministry experience with excellent recommendations from their ministry and in good standing with their community.
  • A clear criminal record and child abuse registry check
  • A reputation of community care and involvement
