Position Description

Average Weekly Attendance:

1,350

Location:

Cambridge and Kitchener, Ontario, Canada

The Role:

Forward Church is seeking a passionate, high energy and experienced full time Creative Arts and Worship Director/Pastor to oversee all aspects of its creative worship ministry and to cultivate a dynamic culture of corporate and personal worship within the Forward Church community.

Who We Are:

We’re committed to making disciples of Jesus who are shaped by God’s Word, surrendered to His Will, connected to His Spirit, and partnering in His Kingdom-building purposes and plans.

We’re situated smack-dab in the middle of a current housing construction boom, with new neighbourhoods continually rising up all around us. We think that’s pretty awesome!

We’re a diverse, multi-generational community of believers passionate about doing all we can to bring God’s love, healing and hope to all, with special focus on unreached people groups, vulnerable children, and new Canadians.

We’re a creative, fun-loving, hard-working, excellence-minded staff in partnership with hundreds of awesome volunteers to bring salt and light to our local community and our world.

We’re an 80+ year old body with the energy of a teenager; rich in history and eagerly looking forward as we enthusiastically pour into the next generation of Christ-followers.

We’re a multi-site church, currently with two locations (Cambridge & Kitchener).

We’re welcoming, friendly people who occasionally close our office doors because the Lead Pastor likes to sing old hymns loudly, in a high pitch voice, off tune, while walking down the hall.

Who You Are:

Not a person who will join the Lead Pastor in singing old hymns loudly, in a high pitch voice, off tune, while walking down the hall.

You have a strong, demonstrated, ever growing commitment to Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, possessing a high level of character, integrity, and humility, with a teachable servant’s heart.

You are musically (vocally & instrumentally) and creatively gifted. Trust us on this one - it’s going to be pretty awkward for us both if you’re not!

You’re an energetic and enthusiastic, highly relational leader, experienced in developing, leading, shepherding, training and growing teams of volunteers.

You’re able to create engaging, dynamic services that help churched and unchurched individuals connect with God in spirit-led, Christ-focused worship.

You’re a self-motivated, organized, team-minded individual with a deep desire for continual growth and excellence in all areas of responsibility.

You see worship as more than just leading a few songs on Sunday and get excited about using your leadership and creative skills in conjunction with our tech, audio, lighting, set design, story and video teams in addition to our music team.

You’re a strategic thinker who creates and refines systems and processes that lead to growth.

You’re looking for a new challenge, awesome colleagues, and boundless opportunities to ‘get your creative on’!

What You Will Bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience as a worship leader in a large church environment
  • Preferably a post secondary degree in music and/or ministry
  • Your deep passion for leading multiple generations in authentic worship experiences
  • Your up-to-date knowledge of current worship music trends and artists
  • Your never-ending supply of amazingly creative ideas
  • Your strong leadership capacity to recruit, mentor, shepherd and mange individuals and teams
  • A spirit of joy, enthusiasm and engagement as a key member of the Strategy & Leadership teams
  • Evidence that you have done your homework of getting to know Forward Church and its culture as best you can before joining the team
  • Homemade cookies on your first day (or butter tarts, but only if they are amazing)

What You Need to Know:

Start Date: Immediately

To Be Included in Application: Cover letter, resume, and a video demo of your personal worship leading experience
