Position Description

Peoples Christian Academy is an established reputable school educating children from preschool  through high school for over 40 years. We are looking for an experienced, passionate, creative, Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to work with a diverse team of care providers.  We would love someone that is passionate about working with children and families and willing to take initiative and work within a team dynamic within our school in our Before & After School program.

Responsibilities:
1. Planning, implementing and evaluating age appropriate programs to enhance the children’s development in the different areas within the team using the ELECT program requirements.
2. Ensuring the safety and well-being of preschool aged children and/or children from JK - Grade 8 before school starts and after school ends.
3. Nurturing working relationships with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds in our school.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and verbal/written communication skills to ensure positive communication with parents, co-workers and community members.
5. Effective problem solving strategies with conflict and resolution styles while providing supervision and guidance to the children.
6. Experience in working with children with special needs is an asset.
7. Opening the Before School program and preparing for children being dropped off before school starts and greeting and caring for children in the After School program once school has ended until they are picked up by their parents
8. Be flexible and willing to explore different shifts and split shifts 

Qualifications:

SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS
Each employee at PCA must have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Saviour and believe that the Bible is God’s word and standard for faith and daily living. The employee shall be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions towards others. He/she shall be a member in good standing at a local evangelical church that has a statement of faith in agreement with PCA's Statement of Faith. He/she shall be in wholehearted agreement with the center’s Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education. He/she shall have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to “train up a child in the way he should go.”

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Employees of PCA's Before & After School program must be able to observe, hear, and respond to the needs of children and emergencies or conflicts that might occur in the classroom, on the playground, and in common areas. Employees must have the ability to determine and communicate cognitive, social, and physical needs of children orally and in writing in the English language.  You must also be in a healthy physical condition to be active with the children and have the ability to participate in activites alongside the children.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
1. Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators in good standing (RECE's) an asset, ECA's should have experience working with either preschool or school-aged groups and/or school aged children.
2. Working knowledge of CCEYA and ELECT programming.
3. Excellent knowledge of child development.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Strong organizational skills, self-control, tact and sound judgment.
6. Current First Aid and CPR training - CPR-C
7. Valid Criminal Record Check – Vulnerable Sector Search
