Summer Opportunity - Position conditional upon approved funding from Canada Summer Jobs Program

New Hope Methodist Church, established in 1911, in Newmarket Ontario is an assembly of believers with a vision to see Christ alive in us and others.  We are experiencing a period of growth in our congregation, and as a result have a need to further develop our children’s ministry program. 

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Family Ministries Assistant to join our team for the summer months.  The Family Ministries Assistant will be responsible for planning and organizing children’s activities for our Sunday morning children’s ministry, “Kids Kingdom”.  This position would be best suited to an individual whose goal is to work in the field of education.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, plan and organize materials and supplies to be used in the weekly Sunday morning Kids Kingdom program
  • Supervise, teach and lead children during the program;
  • Provide direction and support to children's ministry volunteers;
  • Assist with other tasks as required (for example, custodial duties as well as administrative office duties).
  • Potential opportunity to preach, participate in and/or lead music ministry

Qualifications:

  • High school students welcome to apply, but preference will be given to those enrolled in post-secondary College or University studies with an emphasis on education
  • Experience working with children and/or youth
  • Willingness to obtain a police Vulnerable Sector Screening
  • Computer knowledge
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment but also independently as required
  • Some musical and public speaking ability would be considered an asset

Hours of Work/Compensation:

This position would run for 14 weeks, working 30 hours/week at a rate of $14/hour.  The approximate start date of the position will be May 21, 2019 and it would end approximately on August 24, 2019.  If you are a high school student, the length and start date of the assignment can be adjusted accordingly.  The Senior Pastor and the Family Ministries Assistant can work together to create a weekly work schedule.
