Solo Lead Minister (Part-Time)

Company: Temple Hill United Church
Contact Person: Alex Zivkovic
136371 9th Line
Rocklyn, Ontario , N0C 1H0

Position Description

We will pray for God to guide you and inspire you to lead us in worship every Sunday, share the Word of God with us, pray with us and guide us to fulfill our role in life, according to God’s Will. Your attendance at Church meetings would be much appreciated. Your role in guiding our Vacation Bible School for children (one week every summer) would be much appreciated.

We do not have preconceived expectations on what type of leadership you can provide. Whether you provide charismatic or quiet leadership, we will pray for you to lead us.

Autonomy in Decision-Making:

You will create Sunday bulletins, but will also be helped by our pianist Muriel Lush, as well as our elders in this task. We have worked with a wide variety of Ministers in the past. We maintain an open mind and heart and are willing to follow along with your ideas, as well as guide you, as God directs.

Our worship right now begins at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. We can adjust that time as needed. We sing the hymns from the Voices United and More Voices, and our pianist Muriel Lush is almost always present and willing to lead us in learning new music. Children are actively engaged in the service. We open-mindedly embrace different styles of preaching.

Principal Areas of Responsibility and Associated Duties:

  • 1.Leading our Sunday Worship and Preparing the Sunday Bulletins
  • 2.Assisting in our Vacation Bible School (one week in the summer)
  • 3.Assisting with our Christmas Pageant
  • 4.Attending Church meetings (approximately six meetings in a year)
  • 5.Involvement with the denomination (attending regional council meetings)

Faith Formation and Christian Education:

  • Weekly Sunday School (we have children attending every Sunday)
  • Vacation Bible School (one week in the summer)
  • Christmas Pageant

Our Sunday worship always is followed by a pot-luck fellowship and we enjoy a relaxed time together. We expect our Minister to care for himself or herself in similar ways.

Community Outreach and Social Justice:

Our Congregation is involved in the Canadian Foodgrains Bank project, has organized Sunday services at local events (Fall Fair, Rocklyn Classic Car Show, etc.), had been part of the Queen’s Bush Rural Ministries, etc. Our new Minister would be welcome to join us in those, but will not be required.

Pastoral Care:

Our congregation is involved in providing pastoral care within our congregation and our community. We would expect our Minister to support and encourage us in that, and to share in that ministry as possible.

Other Preferred Assets:

Able/Willing to be appointed into a United Church of Canada position.
