Position Description

Part-time - 15 hours/week

Role & Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively develop and lead the vision for this growing ministry as it expands in size and also age range (from 1 group to 4 groups including infants/toddlers, kindergarten, early school age and late school age)
  • Organize and prepare Sunday curriculum for all ages. Some combined programming, which may include music, team building games, drama, storytelling etc. and small group sessions taught by volunteers in shared spaces
  • Recruit, develop, and support volunteers to grow in their teaching abilities, classroom management and in being mentors for children
  • Work closely with Director of Operations in organizing volunteer schedules and on-boarding of new volunteers
  • Reporting to Senior Pastor and participating in weekly staff meetings
  • Plan children’s program to reflect the larger events and themes of the church
  • Communicate with parents regularly
  • Manage Plan to Protect policy and FreeChurch Classroom protocol
  • Lead 1-3 family events along with parent volunteers
  • Oversee the management of supplies, equipment and storage space


  • Experience working and leading in children’s ministry
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in related area of study (i.e. theology, child development, children ministry).
  • Completed Police Check (Vulnerable Sectors) for employment
  • Completed Plan to Protect 0-12 Training (FreeChurch will provide)
  • Become a member of FreeChurch Toronto
